經過在駐地酒店一夜的售票休整後 ，中國隊於當地時間6月4日啟動了在沙迦賽區的零观備戰 。鑒於當地天氣酷熱 ，中國隊在沙迦的首次室外訓練的開始時間安排在晚8點 。而率隊積極備戰同時 ，主教練李鐵也沒有忽略對競爭對手動向的密切關注 。
賽程顯示，40強賽A組敘利亞隊與馬爾代夫隊的比賽於當地時間4日晚8點開球 。因此國足教練組也責成技術分析人員赴賽場關注兩隊情況 ，以便第一時間掌握對手的狀態及新、老球員的特點 。
據悉 ，為給國足備戰創造安靜的環境 ，同時避免給球隊增壓 ，與中國隊同行的中國足協領導及參與國足備戰保障工作的協會各部門負責人並不會前往國足訓練場 。而如果條件允許 ，他們也將同赴比賽場地觀看其他對手的比賽 。
在此之前 ，有消息稱，敘利亞足協一直在遊說亞足聯 ，希望A組餘下比賽能對球迷 ，特別是敘利亞球迷現場開放。不過中國足協作為本組賽事的承辦方 ，擁有包括賽事商務開發在內的各類權益 ，因此在比賽是否對觀眾開放的問題上 ，協會也擁有優先選擇權 。從目前情況看，中國足協並沒有這樣的打算 。因此中國隊3場比賽“零觀眾”已經板上釘釘。
