林詩棟目前17歲 ，蒯曼目前18歲 ，兩人都是國乒教練組現在重點培養的年輕選手 ，在去年舉辦的世青賽上 ，林詩棟狂攬4冠引起了很多人的關注。本賽季 ，林詩棟和蒯曼明顯是獲得了更多的機會 ，在上一站WTT德班常規挑戰賽上 ，林詩棟搭檔蒯曼拿下混雙冠軍 ，同時也是國乒在今年奪得的首冠 。本站WTT多哈常規挑戰賽，林詩棟/蒯曼在首輪對陣頭號種子法國組合萊貝鬆/袁嘉楠，由於向鵬/錢天一退賽，所以國乒混雙隻有林詩棟/蒯曼參加本站比賽 ，同時首輪就要跟頭號種子較量 ，再加上袁嘉楠的單打實力比較強 ，曾經擊敗過王曼昱 ，伊藤美誠等世界頂尖選手 ，所以外界普遍認為林詩棟/蒯曼會遭遇一場苦戰 ，可令人意外的是 ，林詩棟/蒯曼始終都占據著主動權 。
首局 ，林詩棟/蒯曼一上來就取得領先 ，雖然萊貝鬆/袁嘉楠一度追上比分 ，但是進入相持後 ，林詩棟/蒯曼很快就會占據優勢，並以11-7先勝一局 。第二局 ，雙方在開局階段的爭奪還是比較激烈 ，比分一度交替上升 ，當比分戰成7-7平時 ，林詩棟/袁嘉楠連得4分 ，以11-7再勝一局 。第三局 ，法國組合背水一戰 ，剛開始還能跟上林詩棟/蒯曼的節奏 ，可隨後林詩棟/蒯曼提速 ，很快就以11-5鎖定勝局 ，從而以總比分3-0完勝頭號種子 ，強勢晉級8強 。林詩棟/蒯曼能夠以3-0淘汰頭號種子 ，就說明林詩棟/蒯曼完全有實力奪冠 ，有望連奪兩冠 ！
