曼城本賽季聯賽揭幕戰在全場占優的拉满情況下，被熱刺擊敗 。曼城此番回到主場伊蒂哈德 ，热刺藍月亮得到了一個複仇好機會。演经因為近期瓜迪奧拉的典战球隊狀態相當出色，歐冠中剛剛客場5-0大勝葡萄牙體育 ，分反而在聯賽中他們上一次輸球還是转分再反转十月底不敵水晶宮 。而熱刺在最近的剧情兩場英超中接連負於了南安普頓和狼隊 ，本來較好的拉满爭四形勢急轉直下 。賽前大部分專家和球迷都看好曼城取勝 ，曼城不過熱刺再一次扮演了曼城克星的热刺角色，而比賽的演经過程和結果相信球迷看了後是大呼過癮 。
其實本場比賽看下來和2018-2019賽季歐冠四分之一決賽雙方的典战第二回合比賽很類似 。開場不久，分反孫興慜和凱恩連線，一個反擊徹底撕開了藍月亮的防線 ，當孫興慜麵對埃德森的時候 ，韓國人無私助攻庫盧塞夫斯基射空門得手 。這麽早的丟球逼迫曼城在隨後的時間內對熱刺後防進行狂轟濫炸 ，其中京多安是表現最為亮眼的 ，德國人先是一腳兜射擊中立柱彈出。隨後他抓住洛裏的失誤 ，在禁區內射門得手扳平比分 。
上半場是開胃菜 ，而下半場才是奉獻給各位球迷的主餐 。先是孫興慜和凱恩再度連線擊潰曼城後防線 ，在這兩人的配合下，藍月亮將士們感覺無能為力 。隨後孫凱再度連線 ，隻不過這一次凱恩的射門被埃德森擋出。隨後，熱刺再度打出高效反擊 ，庫盧塞夫斯基傳中 ，凱恩禁區內停球調整後射門得分 ，不過隨後VAR給出判定 ，因為庫盧塞夫斯基越位在先進球無效 。比賽又進入到曼城圍攻熱刺的狀態中 ，就在比賽快要進入傷停補時階段的時候 ，全場迎來最高潮 。
先是B席禁區內傳球，然後被羅梅羅擋出 ，曼城球員集體抗議阿根廷人手球犯規 。不過在一分鍾之後 ，主裁判在觀看VAR後給予點球判罰，馬赫雷斯麵對洛裏罰入了一記完美點球 ，曼城扳平比分。就在大家以為藍月亮可能乘勝追擊的時候 ，凱恩給了主隊致命一擊 。和下半場被吹掉的進球類似，又是庫盧塞夫斯基右路傳中 ，凱恩禁區內力壓沃克頭槌完成絕殺 。熱刺兩度領先 ，曼城兩度扳平 ，凱恩的進球被VAR吹掉 ，曼城最後時刻絕平，沒想到凱恩在傷停補時階段完成絕殺 ，這一係列走勢完全無法預測 ，堪稱好萊塢大片 。無論是兩隊球迷還是中立觀眾 ，本場比賽尤其是最後時刻的表現肯定讓你血脈噴張 ，這樣的足球比賽真是希望能夠天天上演 。
