David Bernabeu指出 ，梅西巴薩想要簽下哈蘭德 ，离队就必須要先解決梅西的哈兰續約問題 。盡管如果梅西離開巴薩 ，完全哈蘭德有可能能得到更好的排除薪資待遇，並且成為巴薩隊中的巴萨打工皇帝 。但挪威球星想要與梅西一起踢球 ，跳蚤提交如果梅西離開 ，哈蘭德將會完全排除加盟巴薩的可能。
而《歐洲體育》則表示 ，在續約問題上 ，梅西已經向拉波爾塔提交了一份要求清單 。如果俱樂部能滿足他的要求 ，梅西就願意續約 。
據悉 ，梅西的要求其實並不多 。其一 ，梅西要求巴薩在今夏簽下一位重量級的球星 ，哈蘭德或是阿圭羅都是可以選擇的對象 。其二 ，梅西希望俱樂部繼續相信年輕球員 。本賽季在科曼的帶領下 ，包括佩德裏 、法蒂 、莫裏巴 、德容 、特林康等年輕人都有不錯的發揮 ，梅西希望俱樂部繼續延續下去 。
