黃紫昌出自江蘇青訓 ，紫昌正式曾获中超最佳在2016年便入選U19國家男子足球隊集訓名單 ，加盟隨後在2017年進入江蘇一線隊。武汉經過了一年的队官鍛煉與積累 ，黃紫昌在2018賽季橫空出世 ，宣黄新人首輪中超比賽就獲得上場機會 ，紫昌正式曾获中超最佳完成了一線隊處子秀並打入個人職業生涯首球 。加盟當賽季黃紫昌作為U23球員各項賽事共為球隊出場22次 ，武汉同時交出了5球4助攻的队官完美答卷 。憑借十分驚豔的宣黄新人表現，黃紫昌榮獲2018賽季中超聯賽最佳新人獎，紫昌正式曾获中超最佳並入選年度最佳陣容 。加盟黃紫昌也在2018年同時入選了中國國家男子足球隊 、U23國家隊和U21國奧選拔隊 ，並有著兩次的中國國家隊出場記錄 。2019-2020賽季 ，黃紫昌共為球隊出戰19次 ，並跟隨江蘇隊獲得2020賽季中超聯賽冠軍以及足協杯亞軍。
