媒體爆料阿瑙當時的维奇言論內容是 ：“x你的阿爾巴尼亞母親 。”針對的阿拉是利茲聯後衛阿利奧斯基及一幹擁有阿爾巴尼亞血統的對手球員（北馬陣中有25%的球員為阿爾巴尼亞後裔） 。阿瑙托維奇的巴捂北马父親是塞爾維亞人 ，民族獨立與衝突 、嘴也種族清洗和科索沃戰爭等因素使得這兩個前南國家矛盾深厚、没用關係緊張 ，其顿求重相關民族球員近年來在國際賽場上衝突無數 ，瑙托這也是维奇冷戰後巴爾幹半島的民族國家遺留問題 。
雖然阿瑙托維奇賽後立即致歉，阿拉但此事仍為北馬其頓隊所不容 ，北馬足協在本周一正式聲明 ，並強烈要求歐足聯對於海港後衛之行處以重罰：“北馬其頓足協強烈譴責奧地利球員阿瑙托維奇在比賽進球後的民族主義情緒爆發行為 ，這種做法針對的是阿利奧斯基。同時我們已經向歐足聯正式致函 ，要求對阿瑙托維奇處以最嚴厲懲罰 。”
