潘偉力首先表示：“足協杯看了嗎 ？协杯驚不驚喜 ？意不意外 ？中超聯賽表現最好的四支球隊 ：廣州 、海港、照妖國安和泰山他們的镜中表現是否讓你大失所望呢？全部青年軍出戰的廣州隊0-1輸給中乙隊 ，北京國安隊居然在全場處於劣勢的国足情況下點球輸給一支中甲球隊 ，上海海港竟然熬到了95分鍾讀秒階段才勉強擊敗一支中乙球隊 ，悲哀山東泰山隊在沒有祭出費萊尼這個核武器之前 ，媒体也拿一支中甲球隊沒有任何辦法……”
“這就是中國足球的悲慘現狀 ，真的挺悲哀的，我們沒有頂尖的優秀球員 ，我們的中超球員和中甲中乙球員幾乎沒有什麽區別 ，我們也沒有龐大的青訓人才基礎 ，我們的投資人和老板們甚至也發不出工資了 ，很多家都是這樣，所以中國足球這會兒如果各家俱樂部之間還在大哥笑二哥 ，五十步笑百步，互相攻擊詆毀嘲諷的話 ，我隻想說兩個字 ：沒勁啊 。”
對於潘偉力的言論 ，網友們也在評論區留言，大多認為中超BIG4足協杯成績不佳是因為非主力陣容出戰的原因 ，“泰山抽調了6名國腳”“曼城不上主力 ，也不一定踢的過英冠”“中超球隊兩個月沒比賽了 ，中甲隊一直在比賽狀態比較好 ，四個隊的主力加替補 ，主力加青年軍 ，全青年軍 ，踢的不好正常，人員齊整的中超隊還是有差距的 ，像深圳 ，滄州 ，河南，長春 。”
