北京時間6月16日淩晨2點 ，叙利席中國隊將將沙迦體育場迎來世預賽40強賽的亚主最後一個對手敘利亞隊 。敘利亞已經提前鎖定小組第一 。帅缺賽前發布會 ，布会不满敘利亞主教練馬魯爾沒有露麵 ，或因有消息稱 ，中方助教战馬魯爾缺席是安排因為對於中方所確定賽前發布會的時間安排不太滿意 。
賽前發布會由助理教練達伍德出席 ，为胜他表示，叙利席這是亚主球隊的第三場比賽 ，“我們一如既往地希望取勝 ，帅缺拿到3分 。布会不满而且 ，或因我們先前所有準備都是中方助教战為勝利而進行的 。”與他一起出席發布會的安排敘利亞球員則是替補後衛19號納吉 ，他也表示：“我們的準備和前麵的準備一樣的 ，就像教練說的 ，我們將為勝利而戰 。”
在被問到已經鎖定小組第一的情況下 ，如何看待與中國隊的比賽時，達伍德表示 ：“我們不會因此而輕視這場比賽 ，我們將為敘利亞人民而戰，這是我們的責任 。”
達伍德表示 ，敘利亞隊已經看了中國隊在沙迦的比賽 ，“我們的技術人員也分析了中國隊的比賽，所有信息都很重要 ，我們的技術人員給了我們很有用的信息 。中國隊現在確實改變了很多 ，而且球員也有了不小的變化 。但我們的技術人員已經分析了這些球員 ，我們已經對此做好了準備。”
