當地時間1月17日晚些時候，强赛齐整作為中國隊在卡塔爾世預賽亞洲區12強賽同組最強對手之一 ，沙特沙特隊公布了新一期26人集訓名單。阵容重伤相比於往期陣容，回归沙特隊本期集訓陣容變化幅度不大 。国足更艰最值得關注的形势當屬主力門將，曾經在去年10月與中國隊比賽期間重傷的强赛齐整門將奧維斯正式歸隊 。
與去年年底指派以1999年齡段U23球員為主的沙特年輕球隊參加阿拉伯杯賽不同，目前在12強賽B組領跑的阵容重伤沙特隊將以全主力出戰1月下旬 、2月初的回归兩場12強賽比賽。據了解 ，国足更艰參加阿拉伯杯賽的形势陣容中 ，僅有4人被沙特隊留用 。强赛齐整他們分別是沙特門將穆罕默德·魯巴伊 、紮伊德·巴瓦迪 、阵容重伤後衛薩烏德·阿卜杜爾哈米德 、前鋒菲拉斯·布萊坎 。布萊坎正是去年10月為沙特隊打進中國隊第3球的那一人 。
與去年11月客戰澳大利亞 、越南兩隊期間起用的28人陣容相比 ，沙特隊本期集訓陣容的調整幅度不大 。比如 ，除奧維斯歸隊外 ，主教練雷納德從沙巴布隊補充征調了後衛艾哈邁德·沙拉希利取代另一位重傷的中後衛 。
沙特隊中場人選的調整幅度也非常有限 ，4名原本就出場機會不多的球員落選 。鋒線方麵 ，雷納德僅僅征調了2名球員，他們分別是已在12強賽中攻入3球的薩勒赫·謝赫裏 、“00後”布萊坎 。球隊的多名老臣 ，如邊後衛沙赫拉尼 、中場薩勒姆·多薩裏 、隊長薩爾曼·法拉伊等人都在陣中 。
按照計劃 ，沙特隊將於1月23日集中 ，隨後於27日先主場迎戰阿曼隊 。接著 ，他們將飛赴日本 ，於2月1日客戰日本隊 。
