“我很幸運 ，叼根我有機會與梅西 、伊瓜因本烟也C羅一起踢球 。联盟他們的踢球水平太高了 ，所以要先適應他們 ，轻松然後才能與他們一起踢球一起配合 。叼根如果你和梅西 、C羅這種球星合作時，隻要你足夠聰明能理解他們的想法 ，那每場都能得到三四次破門良機 。”伊瓜因說道，“前提是 ，你必須適應他們的踢球方式。與他們合作的經曆對我而言 ，簡直就是一種特權。”
為何選擇離開歐洲 ？伊瓜因給出他的答案 ：“在歐洲足壇 ，我找不到足球之外的寧靜 。好哥們兒布馮跟我說 ，如果我心中的火焰熄滅了 ，那就到了該改變的時候了 。”
伊瓜因坦承自己小看了美職聯 ：“我本以為在美職聯能踢得很輕鬆 ，甚至輕鬆到叼著雪茄也能贏球 。但我錯了 ，美職聯踢起來難度很大。這裏和意大利足球很相似 ，如果你不了解聯賽和環境，那就會遇到麻煩 。而在英格蘭和西班牙，就很容易表現出彩 。”
