北京時間4月12日，南迪尼奥2021-22賽季歐冠1/4決賽次回合 ，自宣曼城將在客場挑戰馬競 ，离开首回合曼城主場1-0取勝。曼城賽前 ，下赛西踢曼城中場費爾南迪尼奧出席了新聞發布會 ，回巴他自宣本賽季結束將會離開曼城，南迪尼奥回巴西踢球 。自宣
費爾南迪尼奧表示：“和上個賽季一樣 ，离开我沒有踢很多的曼城比賽 ，但是下赛西踢我會在球員的身邊 ，盡我所能的回巴去幫助球隊 。有時候這體現在場外 ，南迪尼奥有時候則是自宣在場上。我想要繼續有規律的离开踢球 ，我會回到巴西踢球了 。這是我和我的家人共同做出的決定，他們對我來說是最重要的 。”
隨後的教練新聞發布會 ，當記者向瓜迪奧拉提問 ，對費鳥離隊作何感想時 ，瓜迪奧拉聽了兩遍問題才回過神，並且表示 ：“噢 ！我也不知道這件事 ，會向他本人再打聽打聽 。”
費爾南迪尼奧在2013年夏天從礦工轉會加盟曼城 ，當時他的轉會費就高達4000萬歐元 。效力曼城至今，他在各項賽事出場373次，貢獻25球32助 ，贏得4座英超冠軍 、1座足總杯冠軍、6座聯賽杯冠軍和2座社區盾 。
