LOS ANGELES -- Jaunt Studios and Tastemade have given Los Angeles the virtual reality treatment.
Jaunt, which has raised $100 million from partners including The Walt Disney Company and Evolution Media Partners, and Tastemade, a digital media company focused on food, travel and lifestyle programming, on Tuesday released a VR video showcasing the best of the City of Angels.
Titled A Perfect Day in Los Angeles, the video kicks things off in-studio with entertainment host Ryan Seacrest before heading to a hidden water hole in Malibu and cruising by Stan’s Donuts. Also featured: Conan O’Brien, tastemakers Jax Tranchida, Carlo Alberto Orecchia, Julie Nolke, Katie Quinn, and Jimmy Wong (from Video Game High School).
“We are always looking for new ways to tell stories,” Larry Fitzgibbon, Tastemade co-founder, told Mashable. “We met with Jaunt and started thinking about how we could bring to life something that would be very compelling that also take advantage of this really immersive experience VR has to offer."
Taking people through Los Angeles -- where Jaunt has an office and where Tastemade is based -- seemed like the perfect way to join forces.
“This is one of the best ways to take advantage of VR,” added David Anderman, chief business officer at Jaunt. “Because you experience cities, and get an understanding of what it’s like to be there."
Both Fitzgibbon and Anderman said the Los Angeles video is just the start of future collaborations between the two companies. The hope is to create similar VR stories in different cities across the globe.

It's available for viewing on the Jaunt VR App for iOS, Android, Gear VR, Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Desktop 360.
