韓媒表示 ：廣州隊 、两队山東泰山隊一共取得了1平11負的亚冠戰績 ，隻攻入2球 ，平负失48球 。结果最終 ，韩媒兩隊均小組墊底，中超灾难無緣晉級16強 ，两队兩隊表現糟糕 ，結果也是災難性的 。其中 ，泰山隊取得1平5負的成績 ，在第三輪戰平了獅城水手。廣州隊情況更糟糕，他們一球未進 ，還0-8慘敗川崎前鋒 。
中國俱樂部的低迷是意料之中的事情 。隨著眾多俱樂部的母公司出現財務困難 ，曾經聚集在中超的大牌外援們一個個離開 ，再加上疫情影響 ，中超兩支球隊以青年軍參加亞冠。但這些球員很多也超過了20歲，確切的說 ，他們已經不是年輕球員 ，而是中國球員的能力本身下降了 。
