《太陽報》指出，切爾西對拉伊奧拉的這一要求非常不滿 。在西甲和法甲 ，合同中都會加入違約金條款。但在英超，這一做法卻基本沒有先例。而且違約金條款基本是為了嚇退追求者 ，而不是為了便於追求者買斷球員合同。巴薩就是最典型的例子 ，在內馬爾2.22億歐元違約金也沒嚇退巴黎之後 ，巴薩立刻將全體球員違約金上調 。以今夏新援埃裏克-加西亞為例 ，他的違約金數額就高達4億歐元 。
