歐足聯主席切費林表示 ，欧足欧洲參加歐洲超級聯賽球隊的联主所有球員將會被禁止參加歐洲杯和世界杯 ，而且不能代表所在國家隊參加比賽。席欧與此同時，超球除名歐足聯法律小組正在研究將皇馬 、员禁曼城和切爾西踢出本賽季的踢世歐冠 ，將曼聯等球隊踢出本賽季的界杯家队歐聯 ，歐足聯正在就這些可能的杯国處罰尋求法律谘詢 。
切費林表示 ：“此時此刻，欧足欧洲我不得不再次強烈地表示，联主歐足聯以及世界足球各界應該團結起來 ，席欧反對少數俱樂部出於自私貪婪，超球除名不去尋找其他解決途徑而產生的员禁提議（建立歐超聯賽） 。我們都需要聯合起來反對這一荒誕的踢世議案 。參與此比賽的界杯家队球員將會被禁止參加世界杯和歐洲杯 ，同時他們不會被允許代表他們的國家隊出戰 。”
此後 ，弗洛倫蒂諾對此做出了回應 。皇馬主席 、歐洲超級聯賽主席弗洛倫蒂諾在表示 ：“禁止參加國家隊比賽？球員們大可放心 ，這是不會發生的 ，這隻是那些搞壟斷的人的障眼法罷了 。歐足聯當然是搞壟斷的機構 ，他們本可以更加透明 ，他們的形象一直都不好 ，有些事兒我就不在采訪裏說了。他們沒有任何理由威脅任何人，沒有人做錯任何事兒 。他們的方案在我們看來是完全行不通的 ，我和其他聯賽以及足協都聊過 ，沒人理解歐足聯在做什麽 。”
“參加歐超的俱樂部被逐出歐冠？這就是來自那些習慣搞壟斷的人的想法 ，他們覺得自己擁有了一切 。話說得那麽滿幹啥 ？有必要嗎？不能坐下來好好談嗎？我們提出這個方案，因為我們覺得它能拯救足球 。他們不會把皇馬踢出歐冠 ，曼城也不會被逐出 ，我可以保證 。歐足聯一直都在搞壟斷 ，他們不透明。壟斷的事兒該到頭了 ，足球就快崩潰了 ，對所有人都是這樣。如果豪門沒有錢 ，那麽他們就不能從別的球隊買人 ，足球的金字塔就無法運作 。”
