北京時間5月19日，坎特據《鏡報》報道，发声切爾西中場坎特暗示他將在斯坦福橋再呆上一個司機 ，婉拒這意味著曼聯新帥滕哈格想要在夏季引進他的曼联希望基本破滅 。
切爾西遭遇換老板風波後 ，邀约很多人都會擔心他們在2022-2023賽季究竟會擁有一套什麽樣的图赫陣容 ，呂迪格和克裏斯滕森都將在這個夏天自由轉會 ，尔今而馬克斯-阿隆索 ，重建阿茲皮利奎塔，球队若日尼奧和盧卡庫也都有可能離開斯坦福橋 。坎特
鑒於俱樂部目前的发声狀況 ，藍軍擁躉們沒有理由不擔心曼聯對於坎特的婉拒挖角，但這位法國中場暗示本賽季不會是曼联他在斯坦福橋的最後一個賽季。
談到他的邀约未來 ，坎特表示 ：“唯一確定的图赫是我還有一年合同 。而目前唯一需要注意的事情 ，就是完成這個賽季 。我會在合適的時候考慮未來的。”
坎特的回複更像是在婉拒曼聯，因為他的這番講話恰逢媒體爆料滕哈格有意入主老特拉福德後第一個引進他的時候 。
切爾西主帥圖赫爾也談到了目前工作的困難之處，他直言不諱的說 ：“我們不是在改進球隊 ，我們是在重建球隊 。”
