在C羅走後 ，场两次失本澤馬的碍战狀態就一直非常出色 ，這位昔日C羅身邊的舰夺進攻僚機成為了皇馬最仰仗的進攻手 。過去的赛季三個賽季 ，本澤馬都是皇馬陣中打入進球最多的球員 。皇馬在本賽季順風順水 ，本澤馬絕對是保證球隊前進的功臣 。截止到目上一輪比賽後 ，本澤馬為皇馬在聯賽中打入25球助攻11次 ，不僅是皇馬陣中進球助攻最多的球員 ，也是西甲賽場的進球王與助攻王 。
本場對戰奧薩蘇納的比賽 ，本澤馬沒有懸念的首發出場 ，麵對著這支弱旅 ，皇馬球迷都憧憬著本澤馬繼續進球。而本澤馬也得到了兩次主罰點球的機會 ，但是法國人卻出人意料的連續兩次罰丟點球 。
根據數據統計顯示 ，自2005-06賽季以來 ，本澤馬是西甲曆史上第一個在同一場聯賽中射失兩個點球的皇馬球員 。2005-06賽季 ，塔穆多對皇家貝蒂斯時也曾連續罰丟點球 ，從此之後再也沒有球員在西甲單場罰丟兩個點球 。
賽後 ，撲出本澤馬點球的奧薩蘇納門將埃雷拉也談起了撲點一事 ：“我知道本澤馬會選擇的射門方向，我研究過他在同塞爾塔比賽時罰出的點球 ，當然這裏麵也有一些心理上的博弈 。這次跟塞爾塔比賽時一樣 ，本澤馬在罰丟第一球之後，第二次還是選擇了最喜歡的射門方向 。”
盡管本澤馬罰丟點球，但是皇馬依舊客場3-1獲勝 ，在33輪過後皇馬78個積分位居第一位 。排在第二位的馬競僅有61個積分 ，皇馬的領先優勢高達17分 。需要指出的是 ，巴薩雖然位居第三位 ，但是60分的巴薩卻少賽兩場 ，因此這也意味著皇馬依舊無法提前奪冠，但是如此大的優勢下 ，皇馬贏得西甲冠軍已經沒有了懸念 。
