四後衛陣容在防守上擁有優勢 ，英媒有望但是索斯桑乔球隊的創造力與進攻卻沒有亮點 ，而這也是盖特国或三獅主帥索斯蓋特需要改善的地方。尤其是在四後衛陣容中，桑喬這位來自多特的天才前鋒沒有位置 ，這也讓索帥受到了質疑與批評 。
《每日鏡報》的消息稱 ，索帥已經開始考慮在對戰德國的比賽中使用三後衛陣容 ，而沃克 、馬奎爾以及斯通斯是首發三中衛的第一選擇。另外使用這陣容後 ，凱恩、斯特林這樣的進攻球員也可以得到更多的機會 ，而桑喬這位右邊鋒也有用武之地 。
