中國男足計劃將於北京時間6月2日啟程離開上海 ，国足飛赴阿聯酋迪拜 ，补充彬随參加卡塔爾世預賽亞洲區40強賽A組餘下比賽 。征调據了解 ，谭龙考慮客場炎熱的吉翔氣候條件，為了應對可能出現的刘彬人員傷病問題 ，中國隊教練組決定補充 征調前鋒譚龍（長春亞泰） 、队赴邊路球員吉翔、西亚劉彬彬（山東泰山）3名球員 ，参加他們按要求將於6月1日晚趕到 國足位於蘇州賽區防疫紅區的强赛駐地與國家隊匯合 。
在5月31日亞足聯確認40強賽A組餘下比賽移至迪拜舉行後，国足中國足協與國足教練、补充彬随管理團隊緊急商量應對措施。征调按照計劃 ，谭龙全隊將於6月2日晚由上海浦東國際機場啟程 ，吉翔乘坐包機前往迪拜參賽。而同天，受傷的 國足入籍攻擊手費南多也將離開蘇州，返回廣州療傷 。
從費南多意外受傷來看 ，在接下來半個月備戰 、比賽時間裏 ，受賽地氣候炎熱 、比賽賽程相對密集等因 素影響 ，中國隊不能排除增添意外傷號的可能性。在這種情況下 ，為確保備戰工作萬無一失 ，國足教練組經 溝通後決定補招3名球員入隊 ，並參加接下來的40強賽餘下比賽 。
最終 ，來自亞泰隊的前鋒譚龍 、來自泰山隊的邊路好手劉彬彬 、吉翔應征入隊 。事實上 ，這3名球員也在國足60人的40強賽備戰大名單陣容之列 。而譚龍 、吉翔在此之前，入隊呼聲就很高 。他們進隊也在情理之 中。劉彬彬雖然近兩個賽季在俱樂部出場率不算高，但作為邊路選手 ，他善於高速突破的特點比較鮮明 ，而 “天下武功 、唯快不破”的道理也非常適宜當下的國足 。
