其實，上座属于從賽後的梅西得分情況可以看出 ，梅西和萊萬之間的寄语金球奖年差距確實非常小 。梅西拿到了613分 ，莱万而萊萬則是獲得了580分 ，兩人其實無論誰當選 ，都是實至名歸的 。除了對萊萬進行了讚揚外 ，梅西也感謝了俱樂部和國家隊 。這位阿根廷巨星說道：“我現在非常高興 ，我要感謝我在巴塞羅那 ，巴黎聖日耳曼以及阿根廷國家隊的隊友以及所有教練 ，今年我實現了太多夢想 ，我想我能獲獎很大原因是因為美洲杯上所取得的成就 ，我很享受我的職業生涯 。”
至於未來 ，梅西也發表了自己的看法 ：“我現在在巴黎很開心 ，可能大家都在討論我退役的事情 ，這個我還不清楚 ，當然我希望是很久以後 ，畢竟我太愛足球了，我渴望繼續迎接新的挑戰 。”
