北京時間6月5日 ，曼联免签據《鏡報》的热刺獨家消息稱 ，滕哈格的埃里曼聯已經加入到了埃裏克森的爭奪中 ，將與熱刺、克森埃弗頓 、滕哈布倫特福德爭奪這位自由身的重建丹麥球星 。
《鏡報》表示 ，红魔曼聯新帥滕哈格正在著手補強球隊的曼联免签中場。此前有報道稱 ，热刺曼聯將在今夏簽下6名新援 。埃里而在冬窗加盟布倫特福德的克森埃裏克森 ，則用自己優異的滕哈表現打動了滕哈格。
今年冬窗，重建埃裏克森與國米解約重返英超 ，红魔他也在布倫特福德找回了狀態 。曼联免签據統計 ，在埃裏克森首發的10場英超比賽中 ，布倫特福德贏下了其中的7場 。
事實上，滕哈格一直對埃裏克森青睞有加 ，兩人在剛剛過去的冬天時就在阿賈克斯有過短暫的相處 。當時 ，埃裏克森被允許隨阿賈克斯一同訓練 ，以恢複自己的狀態 。滕哈格被埃裏克森的決心所打動 ，而他在蘭帕德麾下的表現更是讓滕哈格相信，丹麥球星可以幫助他重建曼聯 。
