北京時間6月16日 ，欧足歐足聯官方網站顯示阿瑙托維奇的联官比賽狀態為停賽 。隨後，阿罚停歐足聯官方發布公告確認，瑙被阿瑙托維奇因“辱罵另一名球員”被罰停賽一場，赛场赛战阿瑙將無緣出戰小組賽次輪對陣荷蘭的无缘比賽 。
此前 ，小组歐足聯宣布，荷兰將對阿瑙托維奇涉嫌辱罵北馬其頓球員阿利奧斯基一事進行調查 。欧足事情源於歐洲杯首輪奧地利3-1戰勝北馬其頓的联官比賽 ，在比賽最後階段 ，阿罚停阿瑙托維奇打入一球，瑙被進球後阿瑙罵罵咧咧 ，赛场赛战但被隊長阿拉巴及時捏住了嘴巴 ，无缘禁止他再發言 。小组賽後 ，北馬其頓足協聲稱阿瑙托維奇對北馬其頓球員阿利奧斯基使用種族主義語言 ，要求歐足聯對阿瑙托維奇實施最嚴厲的處罰 ，而阿瑙否認自己有過種族歧視的行為 ，並做了道歉 。
