隨後 ，卡納瓦羅談起了意大利即將要麵對的世預賽歐洲區附加賽 ：“我們在羅馬對戰瑞士的時候丟掉了晉級名額，如果意大利連續兩次錯過世界杯 ，這就是一場災難 ，我認為曼奇尼可以找到晉級的辦法。在意大利與世界杯之間 ，可能葡萄牙會是阻礙 ，但是土耳其也不是好惹的 ，而在這之前我們需要在巴勒莫擊敗北馬其頓 。”
