北京時間4月20日淩晨 ，降机季重降在本賽季英冠第43輪的富勒返英比賽中 ，富勒姆在主場3-0完勝普雷斯頓 ，隔赛完賽42場過後積86分 ，超近分別領先多賽一場排名第三 、年升第四的真升哈德斯菲爾德和盧頓13分 、15分 ，降机季重降領先少賽一場排名第五的富勒返英諾丁漢森林16分 。在英冠總共46輪的隔赛賽製下 ，富勒姆已經提前鎖定了聯賽前二 ，超近獲得了直接晉級英超的年升名額 。
根據數據統計，真升富勒姆是降机季重降十足的“升降機”球隊。2017-18賽季 ，富勒返英富勒姆從英冠升至英超 。2018-19賽季富勒姆降級回英冠 。2019-20賽季和2020-21賽季 ，富勒姆重複了此前的循環，在升級之後又慘遭降級。而本賽季 ，富勒姆5個賽季之內第三次衝超成功 ，希望他們這一次能夠好運 。
而在富勒姆陣中，本賽季還誕生了一位神鋒 ，他就是塞爾維亞球員米特羅維奇 。本賽季，米特羅維奇在英冠出場40次，打入40球助攻7次 ，創造了英冠改製以來單賽季的進球紀錄 。而在富勒姆最後的4輪比賽中 ，米特羅維奇還有望衝擊英格蘭第二級別賽事的進球紀錄 ，此前該紀錄是在1992-93賽季創下的 ，為單賽季42球 。
