然而 ，恒大所麵臨的財務危機的嚴重程度可能超出了卡納瓦羅的想象 。俱樂部為節省各種開支 ，不得不與卡帥分手。經過雙方友好協商 ，卡納瓦羅同意了俱樂部提出的分手請求 。
據了解 ，雖然卡納瓦羅已很難重返中國執教 ，但俱樂部無論如何都要支持廣州隊打完這個賽季的所有賽事 。
另有消息稱，現年41歲的老隊長鄭智將會再次擔任執行主教練 ，他將臨時組建一個教練團隊 ，帶隊參加接下來的足協杯和中超比賽 。
恒大此舉既為了維護中國職業足球形象 ，亦為保持中超聯賽完整性。此外 ，也是給俱樂部協同各有關方麵找尋新出路贏得時間和條件 。
廣州足球俱樂部同時希望 ，中國足協能充分考慮到廣州隊麵臨的生存危機 ，將此前收取的4億元引援調節費退給俱樂部 ，用以維持俱樂部及球隊未來幾個月的正常運轉及員工薪酬發放 。
