在阿根廷1-0小勝巴西之後 ，梅西潘帕斯雄鷹時隔28年再次贏得了國際大賽的腿筋冠軍 。在賽後接受采訪時 ，有伤阿根廷主帥斯卡洛尼透露 ，半决梅西近期其實一直是赛决赛皆帶傷出戰 。
“梅西腿筋有傷 。出战”斯卡洛尼賽後說道 ，致敬主帅“半決賽對陣哥倫比亞和決賽對陣巴西 ，梅西他都是腿筋帶傷出戰 。”在對陣哥倫比亞時，有伤梅西助攻勞塔羅打進一球 ，半决他還在點球大戰中率先為阿根廷破門穩定軍心 。赛决赛皆在決賽中，出战梅西再次踢滿全場 ，致敬主帅但終場前單刀過門將時腳下一軟失去了對球的控製 。
斯卡洛尼複盤本屆美洲杯 ：“這是一屆非常艱難的比賽 ，我們很幸運最終奪冠 。我相信 ，任何在我這個位置上的主教練，都會對球隊進行更新換代 。這群小夥子們每場比賽都會竭盡全力 。我想把這個冠軍獻給我的母親 、家人和家鄉 ，別忘了這些小夥子們 ，這個冠軍屬於他們 。”
“在我們團結一致時，事情就一定會很順利 。我們擁有其它國家很難找到的足球文化 ，當我們所有人並肩作戰時，就能取得偉大成功 。”斯卡洛尼繼續說道 ，“我們必須用自然的心態去麵對困難，每場比賽都很艱難 ，每場比賽都會遇到很多麻煩 ，這不是借口。”
斯卡洛尼把冠軍送給全體阿根廷人 ：“這是個偉大的冠軍 ，尤其是對阿根廷人而言 ，我希望阿根廷人能夠享受這個冠軍 。對於國家隊 ，阿根廷球迷永遠無條件支持 。我認為 ，他們對這支球隊永不放棄的精神感到認同 。”
