盡管兩人在2021年也有不俗的發揮 ，但是卻無法打動法國媒體《隊報》 ，兩人落選了這家媒體給出的2021年全球最佳陣容 。需要指出的是 ，《隊報》在業界的地位頗高 ，這家媒體給出的最佳陣容也擁有相當高的地位。
從《隊報》給出的2021年最佳11人陣容看 ，英超成為了最大的贏家 ，共有七名來自英超的球員進入最佳陣 。這七人分別是切爾西的門將門迪、曼城中衛迪亞斯 、利物浦右後衛阿諾德 、曼城中場德布勞內 、利物浦前鋒薩拉赫 、切爾西中場坎特以及切爾西的中場若日尼奧 。
除了以上七人外 ，入選最佳陣的還有米蘭的左後衛特奧 、巴黎中衛馬爾基尼奧斯 、拜仁前鋒萊萬以及皇馬中鋒本澤馬 。這份名單中 ，除了C羅梅西這樣的流量球員沒有入選外 ，姆巴佩 、哈蘭德這樣的當紅炸子雞也沒有入圍 。
