穆裏尼奧在今年5月正式成為羅馬主帥 ，格拉而在本屆歐洲杯他還擔任了解說嘉賓的示好工作 。此前在點評英格蘭隊時 ，穆帅马买穆裏尼奧稱讚格拉利什 ：“他那種‘把球給我 ，狂人可罗讓我來解決問題’的不起態度讓我想起了菲戈 。他非常出色 ，格拉我很喜歡他 。示好”穆裏尼奧還稱 ，穆帅马买格拉利什在英格蘭隊左路的狂人可罗位置應該是“不可撼動的” 。
隨後格拉利什感謝了穆裏尼奧的不起稱讚 ，並表示 ：“我已經聽說了穆裏尼奧的這番話，當人們談論你時總是很棒的 ，尤其是穆裏尼奧這樣的人 。穆裏尼奧在足球界取得了很多成就，非常受歡迎 ，對足球非常了解 。而菲戈是我從小尊敬的球員 ，是一位頂級球星 。我真的希望有一天自己可以在穆裏尼奧執教下踢球 。”
而本周五穆裏尼奧回應稱 ：“我認為格拉利什知道自己想去哪裏 ，我也相信他知道有能力購買他的俱樂部類型。甚至我的朋友克裏斯蒂安-帕斯洛（維拉俱樂部CEO）也了解球員的價值 ，那顯然不是羅馬能夠承擔的。如果格拉利什有意來意大利踢球 ，那他會加盟另一家俱樂部，而不是我們羅馬 。”
現年26歲的格拉利什出自維拉青訓 ，目前擔任維拉隊長，是英超聯賽最被看好的天才球星之一 。去年9月格拉利什已經和維拉續約至2025年 ，球員身價目前達到8000萬至1億英鎊 ，包括曼聯 、曼城 、切爾西等多家英超豪門都對他感興趣 。不過格拉利什在英格蘭隊並非主力 ，在英格蘭0-0戰平蘇格蘭的小組賽中 ，格拉利什第63分鍾才替補出場。
