搜狐體育消息 ，粤媒又燃北京時間11月6日 ，武汉望中國足協11月5日就俱樂部欠薪情況發布處罰公告 ，长江除分河北隊 、被扣武漢長江和湖南湘濤（中乙）因未能落實解決欠薪規定 ，广州將扣除2022賽季積分3分 。两队《新快報》撰文表示 ，起保武漢長江被扣除3分 ，粤媒又燃讓廣州隊、武汉望廣州城同時看到了跳出降級區的长江除分希望 。
《新快報》表示 ，被扣此次處罰對聯賽影響最大的广州是武漢隊 。4日傍晚 ，两队在中超第23輪比賽中，起保武漢長江0∶0戰平梅州客家，粤媒又燃結束了此前的8連敗，積分達到18分 ，比降級區高出了一個勝場 。現在卻因欠薪被罰分 ，武漢隊的積分優勢被削平 ，盡管仍然憑借勝負關係和淨勝球優勢壓住廣州城一頭 ，但武漢隊隨時會掉入降級區 。
武漢隊上一次贏球還要追溯到8月13日 ，當時武漢隊在客場以5∶0擊敗廣州城 。此後11場比賽 ，武漢隊2平9負 ，逐漸被廣州城追了上來。被扣減3分後 ，武漢隊已經和廣州城處於同一身位 。根據賽程安排，武漢隊下一輪就要在主場迎戰廣州城 ，想保持倒數第4的排名 ，至少要保一個平局才行 。
武漢隊被處罰 ，不僅倒數第3的廣州城（15分）看到了跳出降級區的希望 ，倒數第2的廣州隊（13分）也看到了保級曙光 。在聯賽還有11輪的情況下 ，兩三分的確不是差距 。考慮到和倒數第5的大連人（25分）差距過大 ，廣州兩隊基本不可能同時跳出降級區 。就後麵的賽程來看 ，廣州城的保級希望要比廣州隊大一些 。
