歐足聯宣布對於不退出歐超的皇馬 、巴薩以及尤文三隊開啟紀律處罰程序 。皇萨來自西班牙的文无威胁《阿斯報》稱 ，對於歐足聯的惧欧態度 ，三隊根本不怕 ，足联三隊認為這就是视为声势歐足聯虛張聲勢罷了 。馬德裏法院已經做出裁決 ，西媒虚张禁止采取紀律措施來懲罰歐超聯賽的皇萨創始俱樂部 ，一旦歐足聯處罰三隊就會遭到歐洲法院的文无威胁懲罰 。
歐洲12隊在4月份宣布加入歐超 ，惧欧但是足联短短2天後，因為英超6隊的视为声势退出土崩瓦解 。隨後馬競 、西媒虚张國米以及米蘭三隊也宣布退出 ，皇萨隻有皇馬 、文无威胁巴薩以及尤文三隊堅守 。前不久 ，歐足聯宣布了對9支退出歐超的球隊的懲罰措施 ，而在北京時間26日淩晨，歐足聯發布公告稱對於皇薩文三隊的處罰程序已經啟動 。
來自西班牙的科貝電台表示 ，歐足聯計劃將這三支球隊踢出歐冠聯賽，並處以巨額罰款 。但是一位來自歐超計劃的內部人士告知《阿斯報》稱 ，對於歐足聯方麵表現出來的態度 ，皇馬 、巴薩和尤文都認為他們是在虛張聲勢 。此前馬德裏法庭已經做出了明確的裁決，禁止采取紀律措施來懲罰歐超聯賽的創始俱樂部 。
這位歐超內部人士這樣說道 ：“歐足聯不得不發布聲明與公告 ，但是這一切都是虛張聲勢 。我們的歐超提案是合法的 ，盡管歐洲法院平均需要16個月的時間來宣判上訴結果，但最終的判決肯定將會扭轉足球的秩序 ，打破歐足聯對歐冠的壟斷 。切費林對於這一切都非常清楚 ，他非常緊張 。他知道法院的判決是決定性的，他與他的律師已經知道要輸了 ，一切都是時間問題 。”
隨後這位內部人士表示 ，英超球隊退出歐超也不是懼怕歐足聯 ，而是因為英國內部的反對 ：“那些離開歐超的俱樂部其實都是因為英國國內的壓力這麽做的 ，而不是因為害怕歐足聯 。他們在英國的利益遠遠超出了足球，約翰遜（英國首相）也警告說要立法反對這項計劃，歐超聯賽變成了一個政治問題 。”
