The end is nigh. And honestly, it looks really, really fun.
Marvel Studios has just shared the first trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, the third solo film starring the Asgardian hero. While the last two movies kept finding excuses to bring him down to Midgard (that's Earth to us mortals), this one sends him zipping around the cosmos.
SEE ALSO:Come for the 'Thor: Ragnarok' trailer, stay for Jeff GoldblumAlong the way, he loses his hammer and his long locks, reunites with an old friend (the Hulk), battles an intriguing foe (Hela), and makes a new buddy (Valkyrie).
Naturally, we've got a lot of questions about how this all comes together. So without further ado, here are 10 burning questions we have about that Thor: Ragnaroktrailer.

*record scratch*Credit: marvel/disneyOkay, technicallywe do not get a "record scratch" sound effect and technicallyThor does not say, "Yup, that's me. You're probably wondering how I ended up in this situation."
But he does say "I know what you're thinking. How does this happen?" which is basically the same thing. The fact that this trailer effectively opens with an internet meme is the first indication that this film's got a strong sense of humor – which makes perfect sense if you've seen director Taika Waititi's other films, like What We Do in the Shadowsand Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
(Note: if you haven't seen Waititi's other films, now's the time to change that. They're good!)
Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYThe first Thor: Ragnarokstills shocked fans by showing the Asgardian hero without his beloved Mjolnir, and the first Thor: Ragnaroktrailer reveals exactly what happened to it: it was destroyed in a battle with Hela.
Later footage shows Thor wielding shields and clubs and other things, but Thor without his hammer is like Cap without his shield or Iron Man without his armor. It just feels wrong. Is this really the end for Mjolnir, or will Thor find some way to piece his signature weapon back together?
Cate Blanchett can destroy us anytime.Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYSpeaking of Hela, the new trailer offers our first look at the villain, whom comics fans might recognize as the Goddess of Death. She's played by Cate Blanchett and like most characters played by Cate Blanchett, she looks fabulous.
As Blanchett recently explained, Hela's been locked up in prison for thousands of years. In Ragnarok, she comes out ready to wreak havoc on Asgard – and from the trailer, it certainly looks like she succeeds. But is she just out for revenge? Or does she have bigger ambitions in mind?
Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYBetween the classic rock soundtrack (Led Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song"), Froot Loops color palette, and quirky sense of humor, Thor: Ragnarokfeels almost like a third Guardians of the Galaxymovie. There are also shades of Star Warswhen Thor crash-lands on the planet, while comics fans on Twitter have compared the new trailer to the work of Jack Kirby and Walt Simonson.
Loving that chic, sleek new helmet.Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYLast seen impersonating Odin on the Asgardian throne at the end of Thor: The Dark World, Loki returns with a fetching new uniform, a couple of cool knives, and some brand-new allies in the Thor: Ragnaroktrailer. But as usual, the trickster keep us guessing as to what, exactly, he's up to.
The trailer suggests he joins forces with the Grandmaster at some point. And we can reasonably expect he'll wind up on Earth at some point, since the Doctor Strangeend credits has Thor visiting our planet in pursuit. How these things all fit together, we'll just have to wait and see.
*heart eyes emoji*Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYLoki isn't the only one in cahoots with Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster. Valkyrie, played by Tessa Thompson, is the one who brings Thor to him. So why is she working for this dude? When and how does she wind up teaming up with Thor? (That sure looks like her battling Hela in the trailer ...) And how does she feel about his fanboyish admiration?
Hulk does his best Kool-Aid Man impression.Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYThe last time we sat Hulk, he was jetting off for parts unknown at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. Now he's a gladiator in outer space? In a storyline reminiscent of Planet Hulk? We can't wait to find out what the story behind thatjourney is.
Us watching the Thor: Ragnarok trailer.Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYMark Ruffalo has described Thor: Ragnarokas a road trip movie starring the Hulk and Thor, but the first trailer leaves off with them still in the gladiator arena. Thor looks utterly delighted to see his "friend from work," but Hulk wastes no time charging at him. How do we get from here to the buddy-buddy good times?
It's sad to see friends fight ... but honestly, we kinda want to see these friends fight.Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYAs eager as we are to see these Avengers team up again, we have the same question as everyone else in that arena: Who would win in a fight between these two? (My money's on Hulk, personally. Dude's so strong, Iron Man had to invent special armor just to subdue him in Ultron.)
Poor, patient, long-suffering Darryl.Credit: MARVEL/DISNEYAs far as we know, Darryl isn't actually in Thor: Ragnarok. But what can we say? We love the dude. We miss him. We wonder how he's doing, and what he's up to.
Although Marvel's Kevin Feige has said "80 to 90 percent" of Thor: Ragnaroktakes place outside of Earth (hence why Natalie Portman's Jane Foster won't appear), we know Thor swings by at least long enough to visit Stephen Strange. Here's hoping he finds time to pop in and say hi to Darryl, too.
