《太陽報》表示 ，奇数溫格的洲杯願景旨在為球員減輕負擔 ，降低比賽的温格數量 ，提升比賽的提议質量 。溫格希望從2026年世界杯開始 ，世界赛世界杯在每個偶數年舉辦 ，杯两而各大洲的年次年踢年各洲際錦標賽則在奇數年舉辦。雖然該提議還需要國際足聯的偶数211位成員協會進行投票，產生結果的奇数時間可能要到明年5月份，但包括大羅 、老舒梅切爾等名宿都已經表達了對此的支持，即便是抵製的呼聲同樣很高 。
