北京時間8月21日，吴曦中國隊繼續在上海厚湃爾足球公園訓練 ，对澳大利這也是亚有研究应对國足首次聚齊除武磊之外的全部隊員 。訓練開始前 ，针对吳曦接受了記者的放平采訪 。
談到自己的心态身體恢複情況 ，吳曦表示 ：“主要還是困难心理調節和恢複，前段時間家人也來到上海 ，吴曦陪伴我 ，对澳大利另外也有一些積極的亚有研究应对康複手段。第一階段聯賽最終的针对結果也有些遺憾 ，接下來的放平足協杯也沒法參加了 ，預祝俱樂部能夠在足協杯賽中取得好的心态成績 。”
談到澳大利亞這個對手 ，困难吳曦表示 ：“國家隊也進行了有針對性的吴曦研究 ，今天開始有針對性的戰術訓練 ，後麵的訓練 ，我們也會根據對手的額特點，去灌輸一些東西 。總體來說，還是放平心態 ，用力拚每一個對手 ，當然也要做好應對困難的準備。”
吳曦在江蘇踢球的時候 ，曾經與澳大利亞中後衛塞恩斯布裏作隊友 ，而此次塞恩斯布裏也將代表澳大利亞隊出戰，“他是很有想法 ，很有特點的隊員” ，吳曦表示 ：“能力非常出色 ，當然最近幾年 ，我們也沒有更多的聯係了，這次到賽場上還是會對抗一下 ，看看他現在的實力和比賽態度 。”
2015年亞洲杯 ，中國隊也曾經與澳大利亞隊在淘汰賽階段遭遇，不過中國隊慘敗於主場作戰的澳大利亞 ，當時那支國家隊中，吳曦已經成長為國足隊長 。“其實也沒有太多的可比性了” ，吳曦說 ：“當時隊裏也沒有歸化球員 ，現在隨著歸化球員的加入，我覺得國足的實力還是有所提升的 。關鍵還是在場上踢出自己的東西，展示球隊應有的水平 。”
對於即將開場的漫長的集訓 ，吳曦表示 ：“受限於疫情 ，國家隊要沒麵對特殊的賽製 ，這也是沒有辦法的而是情 ，不過我相信所有人都做好了準備，能夠去為國爭冠 ，體現出大家的鬥誌和意願。本期集訓隊員人數比較多 ，應該說這是一個大的集體 ，希望老隊員能夠起到帶頭左右 ，在艱苦的賽程中 ，能夠調節好自己 ，帶動全隊 。”（搜狐體育 裴力）
