溫格希望以更少的届预比賽數量 ，更高的选赛比賽質量為核心改革 ：“我覺得國家隊可以在10月進行比賽 ，一個月進行7場預選賽 ，次性然後在6月進行比賽 。打完我們想要減少比賽場次 ，温格這很重要 ，世界我們已經看到了球員的两年情況 。我們可以設想一下 ，届预在2026美加墨世界杯 ，选赛2027年歐洲杯還有其他大洲的次性杯賽後，緊接著2028再舉辦一次世界杯 ，打完如此往複。温格”
