曼聯隊長馬奎爾剛剛傷愈複出隻進行了一次訓練 ，主帥索爾斯克亞就安排馬奎爾在本場比賽首發 ，結果馬奎爾在比賽中失誤連連 。索帥賽後承認自己做出了一些錯誤的決定 ：“馬奎爾是我們的重要球員，是我們的隊長 ，他和理療師一起努力工作 。陣容是我選的 ，如果這行不通——我們丟了四個球 ，那麽我可能做出了一些錯誤的決定。”
