此前中國足協公布了今年國足第二期集訓名單 ，部解在陳洋 、曝郑李金羽 、智不再担州队主帅於根偉等中超主教練離隊的任广情況下 ，上賽季第二階段擔任廣州隊執行主教練的队内鄭智卻留了下來 ，繼續輔佐李霄鵬 ，已全约國足將於3月3日在海口集訓 ，部解3月10日赴西亞繼續備戰 ，曝郑3月24日 、智不再担州队主帅29日參加最後兩輪12強賽 ，任广回國後還要隔離3周。如果鄭智一直都在隊中 ，已經沒有可能帶領廣州隊參加冬訓 。那時外界就紛紛猜測鄭智將不再擔任廣州隊主帥了 。
此前恒大新賽季的薪酬標準曝光 ，在隊內60萬限薪令的背景下 ，廣州隊的老將們已經選擇了離職 ，即便是譚凱元、淩傑都將選擇離隊，黃博文 、梅方、劉殿座 、廖力生 、何超、韋世豪 、楊立瑜這些隊員幾乎已經鐵定離隊 。他們的年薪都在百萬元以上 。媒體人夏曉司也表示 ：“據說許家印做出的決定 ，要求1500萬運營廣州隊一年 。就在上午 ，剛剛聽說 ，今年一支中乙球隊的預算總額是800萬人民幣 。”
西北望看台今日發文寫道 ：廣州隊在母公司恒大集團陷入嚴重經濟危機後，球隊何去何從到現在還沒定論 。直到現在還沒有通知集中的廣州隊 ，目前可以確定的是隊內老將已經全部解約 ，而上賽季的執行主教練鄭智明確告知不會再帶隊。
