當地時間8月30日 ，官方阿森納官方宣布和巴西邊鋒威廉協商解約 。威廉威廉接下來準備回巴西加盟科林蒂安 ，森纳據悉 ，解约金重甲他為此放棄了2000萬英鎊的弃万薪水 。
阿森納官網公告稱 ：“我們已經和威廉達成協議 ，镑薪從今天起解除他的返巴合同 。這位巴西國腳在去年8月從切爾西加盟阿森納 ，官方上賽季共出場37次 。威廉威廉的森纳合同原本還有兩年到期 ，但他和他的解约金重甲團隊進行了積極且有建設性的討論後，他將返回巴西加盟科林蒂安 ，弃万那是镑薪威廉開始自己職業生涯的地方 。阿森納的返巴每個人都希望威廉和他的家人未來一切順利。”

威廉的合同原本還剩兩年到期，周薪高達22萬英鎊 。威廉本可以選擇留在阿森納拿到剩餘的2050萬英鎊薪水 ，但他卻選擇和阿森納解約，放棄了這筆巨額薪水 ，他的做法也讓阿森納俱樂部震驚。而在加盟科林蒂安後 ，威廉的薪水降低了70% 。
