貝爾與皇馬的贝尔部退合同明年夏天就將到期 ，而他的明夏未來去向也一直被外界關注 。英國《鏡報》日前的俱乐界杯一則報道指出 ，貝爾明夏與皇馬合同到期後 ，役希有可能不再繼續為任何俱樂部效力 。望为威
該報表示 ，士出貝爾已經告知身邊的战世朋友 ，稱自己不打算在明年夏天前往其他俱樂部 。贝尔部退不過 ，明夏貝爾仍希望為威爾士出戰世界杯比賽 。俱乐界杯這也意味著 ，役希如果威爾士最終獲得2022年世界杯正賽資格，望为威貝爾可能會以自由球員的士出身份在2022年下半年保持訓練 ，並在年底的战世世界杯比賽中代表威爾士出戰。
此前西媒曾有消息稱 ，贝尔部退貝爾可能會考慮在本屆歐洲杯結束後退役 ，不過貝爾本人已經否定了這一說法 。
