北京時間2月24日 ，沙特從沙特傳來消息 ，于月為備戰卡塔爾世預賽亞洲區12強賽最後兩輪賽事 ，日集沙特隊計劃於3月19日重新集中 ，中对阵中战這意味著球隊至當月24日“客戰”中國隊時 ，国队僅有5天備戰時間。前仅
雖然目前為止 ，天备有關中國隊12強賽最後一個主場比賽的沙特舉辦地還沒有得到官宣 ，但從相關渠道反映的于月情況看 ，中國隊已經做好繼續在阿聯酋沙迦參加本場比賽的日集打算。與此同時 ，中对阵中战中國足協也已根據這樣的国队預案 ，與沙特足協方麵進行了溝通 。前仅
據了解 ，天备如果最終中、沙特沙比賽確認安排在阿聯酋進行 ，那麽沙特隊參加本輪比賽 ，就不會受到長途跋涉的困擾。而比起“主隊”中國隊 ，他們也更適應比賽地的氣候條件 。在這種情況下，沙特隊放棄過早提前集訓的打算 。
事實上，沙特隊主教練雷納德本人也不主張組織長期集訓 。自從接手沙特隊以來 ，他一直按照國際比賽日周期安排沙特隊集訓計劃。因此即便餘下兩輪比賽事關本隊世界杯入場券競爭 ，雷納德依然決定於3月19日拉開新一期集訓序幕 。
沙特聯賽原計劃於3月17日至19日進行第25輪的角逐。不過為了確保沙特隊如期展開集訓，沙特足協安排沙特國腳所屬俱樂部球隊必須3月17日 、18日完成當輪聯賽比賽 。
據悉 ，沙特隊集中後 ，現在本土進行一段時間的訓練 ，隨後於3月22日訓練後 ，前往阿聯酋 。由於他們與中國隊的比賽將於當月24日打響 ，因此留給沙特隊在當地合練的時間隻有23日當天的場地適應訓練期間 。
如果本輪他們能取勝中國隊 ，沙特隊確認躋身B組前兩位 ，從而提前1輪鎖定卡塔爾世界杯正賽入場券 。如果無法取勝中國隊，沙特隊就將在3月29日的12強賽末輪比賽中 ，與澳大利亞隊“死拚”世界杯入場券 。
據了解 ，在上輪客戰日本隊比賽中受傷的中場球員阿卜杜爾·馬爾基因賽後接受手術治療 ，鐵定無緣參加與中國隊的比賽 。效力於阿爾希拉爾隊的法拉伊等老隊員近期也受到不同程度的傷病困擾 。不過在雷納德看來 ，這些“小問題”並不會影響全隊的備戰質量 。
