根據歐足聯規定 ，季欧積分排名前四的冠强各剩聯賽 ，擁有4個歐冠正賽席位 。排名第5-6位的聯賽，有2個正賽席位+1個第三輪資格賽席位 。第7-10名的聯賽，有1個正賽席位+1個第三輪資格賽席位 。加上歐聯冠軍和歐冠冠軍 ，總計應有26支直接晉級小組賽的球隊 。而如果歐冠冠軍已經通過聯賽排名獲得了歐冠席位 ，那麽該資格將由排名第11位的聯賽繼承。
