埃裏克-加西亞是在比賽第109分鍾受傷的 。當時 ，西班大部分人的牙中遇诡异伤第一感覺是肌肉傷勢 。不過《馬卡報》表示 ，卫遭埃裏克-加西亞是脚趾出現了大腳趾莫名其妙地錯位 ，並且無法回歸正常位置。错位這樣一來 ，还正埃裏克-加西亞連走路都會感到疼痛 ，西班就更不要說跑步了。牙中遇诡异伤
《馬卡報》表示 ，卫遭該傷病出現的原因 ，主要是大腳趾延伸過度 ，導致最大的關節扭傷所致，通常會出現在腳趾彎曲過度以及奔跑受力中 。這一傷病在足球運動中並不常見 ，但在一些人工場地的運動中較為常見 ，比如NFL 。
據悉，埃裏克-加西亞的傷勢倒是不重 ，這種傷勢隻需要休戰2-3周即可 。雖然在歐洲杯中出局 ，但埃裏克-加西亞入選了西班牙國奧隊的名單 ，這意味著他還來得及趕上東京奧運會 。
