從進球部位上看 ，球扎右腳打入61球 ，欧洲左腳打入43球 ，杯球而頭球打入27個 ，分析另外還有11個進球是场均烏龍球。在2008年的进球歐洲杯以及2012年的歐洲杯中，左腳射門得分不到總進球數的历史四分之一 ，但是這一數字在2016年的歐洲杯上躍升至34%以上 。而在本屆歐洲杯 ，左腳進球為30.3%，這證明了現代足球運動員盡可能熟練地使用雙腳 。而烏龍球的提升是本屆歐洲杯最受人關注的問題，11個烏龍球也超過了此前所有屆歐洲杯的烏龍球總和 。
本屆歐洲杯平均每32分鍾打入一球 ，場均進球2.78個 。與2016年的歐洲杯相比 ，比賽中首個進球的時間提前了9分鍾。歐洲杯曆史上最快的五個進球中的三個都是在本屆歐洲杯打入的 。四場1/4決賽中，三場比賽都是在比賽開始八分鍾之內打破僵局 。而平均每場比賽的進球數也是歐洲杯曆史最高的 。
進球的地點看，禁區內的進球為123個 ，禁區外的遠射得分19個 。在2016年的歐洲杯上 ，有15.7%的進球來自禁區外 ，而本屆歐洲杯這一數字下滑到了13.4% 。這似乎表明持續在禁區內施壓會更容易產生進球 。
進球的方式看 ，運動戰進球132個 ，點球9個 ，直接任意球1個。守門員在本屆歐洲杯發揮出色 ，而且防守球員在己方禁區內的犯規變少 ，這也是點球進球少的原因之一 。點球判罰中 ，一共有16次點球判罰 ，其中9個點球直接罰入 ，守門員有5次成功的撲救 ，還有2次點球罰丟 。點球判罰多 ，應該與VAR的使用有很大的關係。
