《紐約時報》則報道稱 ，皇馬 、巴薩和尤文，將通過法律手段起訴退出歐超的9家俱樂部 ，並索要經濟賠償 。在12家初始俱樂部簽署歐超合同時 ，合同中針對退出情況有明文規定的處罰條款 。違約金為上賽季歐超聯賽中收入的50% ，再加上1.5億歐元 ，或者過去4個賽季收入的25% 。
