Microsoft is breaking emoji out of 2D.
As part of a free update coming to Microsoft Windows 10 in early 2017 announced Wednesday, users will soon have the ability to create 3D emoji and other objects right in Microsoft Paint 3D.

They are also fully customizable via Microsoft's sticker feature. You can stamp a pair of glasses or a mustache right onto the emoji to make it unique in whatever way you want.
Microsoft also unveiled a social network where you can search for and share 3D creations to use in Paint 3D called Remix 3D.

Microsoft Paint has been around for 30 years and more than 100 million people use the technology, according to the company. The new 3D emoji will come as part of a free update to Windows 10 in early 2017 called The Creator's Update.
The 3D feature will also be added to other Microsoft applications like Word, Excel and PowerPoint over the next year.
I, for one, can't wait to see the thinking face emoji in all its 3D glory.
