《超越》將視角對準體育生的影超越减職業生涯和轉型經曆 ，以真實的肥又筆觸勾勒人物群像，用他們為夢想拚搏 、到苗為生活奮鬥的苗心進擊之路詮釋“中國式勵誌” 。
麵對電影的第一批觀眾 ，鄭愷坦言“很緊張 ，就像高考交答卷”。但觀眾給了他高分 ：首映觀影後的交流環節中 ，影片“跑起來 ，別停下”的slogan被頻繁提及，觀眾盛讚《超越》是“端午檔最燃最熱血的電影”。
導演透露，為塑造出主角“郝超越”兩個時期的不同狀態 ，鄭愷先在前期減肥 ，又在兩個月內極速增肥40斤 ，“胖若兩人” 。
第一次在銀幕上看到成片的妻子苗苗 ，對於鄭愷為電影的付出直言心疼，感慨“原來做電影這麽難這麽累”，並喊話鄭愷：“以後不管你做什麽 ，我都會全力以赴地支持你 ，做你堅強的後盾 。”一番深情表白讓鄭愷淚灑現場 。
導演馮小剛也誇讚了鄭愷為塑造角色做出的努力 ，寄語“這樣做是值得的” 。徐帆也表示自己很感動：“鄭愷用半年的訓練把自己從演員變成了運動員，特別佩服 。”
