北京時間5月6日 ，辟谣有報道稱，英足英足總將取消英格蘭球迷在重大賽事中演唱《Three Lions》的未想環節 ，並考慮用其他曲目進行替代 。取消 自1996年歐洲杯以來 ，狮军David Baddiel和Frank Skinner的团队《Three Lions》就備受熱愛 ，在英格蘭參加的火速每一屆大賽上都有球迷演唱 。但國外認為這首歌有些傲慢了 ，辟谣因此英足總計劃用Neil Diamond的英足單曲《Sweet Caroline》取代這首歌 。
該新聞一出，未想英足總立馬發聲明進行了辟謠 。取消他們明確表示 ，狮军沒有計劃對英格蘭比賽日體驗的团队基本環節進行任何改變 。官方聲明中寫道 ：“與今天早上的火速報道相反 ，英足總仍然會在溫布利進行的主要比賽中播放《Three Lions》 ，而且從未打算對此進行調整。”
“這首歌屬於球迷，它是球迷追隨英格蘭隊的希望。英足總要求我們在2018年世界杯和去年夏天的歐洲杯上將這首歌作為球隊隊歌之一進行播放 ，這也是我們未來的計劃 。”
