英格蘭隊在歐洲杯半決賽中依靠一粒爭議點球淘汰丹麥隊晉級 ，未來的欧足決賽也是在英格蘭進行，坊間傳聞歐足聯要力保三獅軍團奪冠 。联偏但克羅地亞足球名宿 、袒英現歐足聯官員博班則認為這種“偏袒陰謀論”都是格兰干净無稽之談 。

隨後博班繼續駁斥道：“有太多荒謬 、博班不誠實和不公平的言論，他們還說我們會在倫敦踢歐冠決賽 ，而不是波爾圖 。現在大家看看英格蘭隊的反應 ，也要感謝意大利這樣的國家 。”
不過博班也表示了對歐超聯賽明確的反對 ：”有一場官司 ，我們會贏，真正的足球會戰勝那些想要毀掉他們的人 ，那些想要抹去160年發展曆史的人 。僅僅是因為他們沒有管好自己的賬戶 ，所以我們就必須看著足球被毀掉？足球會是最後的贏家 ，是熱愛足球的人 ，如果我必須說出一個名字，那就是切費林 。”
