與此同時，波蘭眾國腳聯合發出一份聲明 ，他們不會參加與俄羅斯的世預賽附加賽，“由於眾所周知的原因 ，我們波蘭國家隊成員，連同波蘭足協 ，不會參加附加賽對陣俄羅斯的比賽 。這不是一個輕鬆的決定，但生活中有比足球更重要的事情 。我們的心與處於災難中的人們同在 ，譬如我們國家隊的隊友肯齊奧 ，他和他的家人目前還在烏克蘭首都基輔，希望戰爭盡快停止 ，願世界和平 。”
在談到波蘭不會出戰俄羅斯的決定後 ，波蘭國腳、拜仁慕尼黑頭牌萊萬多夫斯基說，“這是正確的決定 ，我無法想象現在與俄羅斯進行比賽 。雖然俄羅斯足球遠動員和球迷無需對目前的狀況負責 ，但我們真的不能當做什麽時期都沒發生 。”與此同時 ，萊萬多夫斯基的國家隊隊友 、尤文圖斯門神什琴斯尼接受采訪時說 ，“我的國家隊和我做出了不參加與俄羅斯比賽的決定，即便是我們被判0-3輸球 。”
