但進入1/8決賽，全场維納爾杜姆卻在與捷克的仅传比賽中完全斷電 ，在進攻端，射门赛他被對位的小组霍萊什幾乎鎖死 ，全場0射門出現 ，隐身而在傳接球上 ，作為荷蘭中場關鍵一環的他本場比賽存在感低下 ，全場僅有26次觸球 ，傳球成功率僅為67%
值得一提的是，維納爾杜姆全場也僅有10次成功傳球出現 ，這也是荷蘭隊史在歐洲杯淘汰賽階段球員（非門將）傳球次數最少的一次。
更值得一提的是 ，本場比賽防守維納爾杜姆的捷克球員霍萊什貢獻了1傳1射的表現 ，雙方這兩位球員的直麵對話高下立分 ，也讓兩隊“輕鬆”分了勝負 。
