7月5日,中超中國足協在上海召開聯賽會議,本賽季中超確定縮減至22輪,在明年1月3日收官 。這是苏州赛区赛程中超第一次出現跨年賽季 。
為了給國家隊讓路,广州中超聯賽被迫壓縮賽程,但蘇州和廣州兩個賽區不變 。由於已經不可能打滿30輪,两个轮高因此第二階段的賽程被跳過,第三階段取而代之 。也就是不变說,第一階段蘇廣兩個賽區的前四名將進入爭冠組,而兩個組的後四名將進入保級組。這意味著,迎天隻要在第一階段打進賽區前4名,便可保級無憂 。
目前,强度中超第一階段隻打了5輪比賽(個別球隊隻打了4場),聯賽必須盡快重啟,然後以3天一賽的高密度推進賽程 。據悉,中超中超確定於7月15日重啟,到8月12日正式結束第一階段 。
第一階段賽事結束後,苏州赛区赛程聯賽將進入長達3個多月的間歇期,然後到12月1日再重新開打,12月將進行8輪比賽 。這是广州中超曆史上首次出現跨年的賽季 。

第1階段(6~14輪+補賽):7月15日~8月12日
第2階段(15~22輪):12月1日~2022年1月3日
